We typically arrange private transportation from the airport to the resort, but we followed the advice of others and simply grabbed a taxi from the airport. The cost from PVR is based on the destination and was controlled by the airport (the driver paid the teller upon leaving the pickup zone). We paid $22 and waited in line about 5 minutes, but others have reported walking across the street for a non-airport registered taxi for a cost of $15. We felt safe using several taxis during our trip and found all fares consistent. We checked Uber a few times but opted for the available taxis nearby; Uber typically ran a few bucks cheaper. Cost for two passengers:
- Airport to Resort: $22
- Resort to Marina: $6
- Marina to Resort: $8 (late night saw higher prices)
- Resort to Old City pier (Romantic Zone): $8
- Malecon to Resort: $6
- Resort to Airport: $15
The taxi took USD but it’s recommended to pay in pesos if you have them. Because the exchange rates vary, they charge 90-120 pesos per trip (about $5.50-$6 USD at the time) but stick to a standard round up to make it easier on them ($6-8).
