Rhythms of the Night – SVB

Review:

The show was fantastic! Fire twirlers, tons of acrobatics, and a fun story to follow along with The show of the season was “Alma”, and different seasons may bring a different story line. It lasted about an hour and was very organized. We arrived at 8pm and it looked like we were walking into an episode of Survivor – pathways lit by torches and candles along the paths – very beautiful and tropical.

We went directly to the theater which had ~600 people we’re told. The staff showed us to padded bench seats and the show quickly began. Afterwards, half of the audience was directed to leave according to boat number, and the other half was directed where to go eat dinner. Again, very organized, and dinner locations were determined by party size. They had separate areas for large groups (10, 15, 20), and more intimate / romantic areas for parties of 2-3 overlooking the bay. The food was good, buffet style with salads, pasta, chicken, steak, shrimp, desserts, and a server to bring you anything from the bar.

We walked around the area after dinner. There were a dozen or more hammocks on the beach to enjoy and different areas to relax. Everything was very beautiful.

Rhythms of the Night was fun, but I wish we knew much more info.

Important Information:

It starts with departure from one of two marinas, the closest being about 5 minutes from Secrets Vallarta Bay. Our taxi cost was $6 to get there but $8 returning, Uber showed $3-4 but we didn’t want to wait.

We were told to depart for the marina at 5:40 and check-in by 6:15. We misunderstood that this was boat departure time – it was not. We left at 7pm. Important: You can upgrade to “VIP” which means you get on the boat sooner, I think it was $50 more pp. Your boarding order on the boat is like an airline, based on check-in at the marina. We checked in around 6pm and were #50/#51, which gave us practically any choice of seating on the boat. If you’re at the end (#200) you may have to sit up top.

Important: It’s a 1hr boat ride each way. Minimal food (carrot sticks, cheese, rolls) on the boat and we ran out with 205 people. Beer (Pacifico), margaritas and rum punch were served both going and returning. The boat crew did an amazing job instructing, organizing 200 people, and put on a show for the return trip to keep people engaged.

It was cold, and at night. Jess froze because she wore a dress despite having a light jacket – dress warmer. Thankfully the boat had screens blocking wind on the front but water still splashed in from the side. We saw other boats when we arrived that were wide open with no wind protection. The boat had a top deck but on the return trip everyone huddled on the first whether they had a seat or not.

Important: All pictures I saw were sunset dinners. I guess they have 2 shifts, one before the show and one after, so we didn’t eat til 10pm. Would’ve been nice to understand.

Cost was ~$150pp. The show is full of incredible acrobatics, similar to a cirque de soleil. We enjoyed it but wouldn’t do it again. Others we met there had been multiple times. The experience may have been better for us had we not been so cold – dress appropriately.
